The Brief The creative direction focused on translating the spirit of the race into a visual narrative that captures both its intensity and its environment. The goal was to reflect the unique experience of the race through a dynamic illustration that balances athletic challenge with the beauty of the Western Cape landscape. Key themes explored in the concept included: • Team dynamics — the emotional and strategic journey of riders competing in two-person teams • Untamed landscapes — the dramatic terrain and natural beauty of the Western Cape • Route identity — representing the distinctive character of the 2026 route and host towns • Legacy — reinforcing the race’s reputation as one of the most demanding and iconic mountain bike races in the world Creative Approach The artwork was designed to evoke movement, endurance, and the vast scale of the terrain riders navigate throughout the race. Composition, color, and form were used to emphasize the relationship between the athletes and the rugged landscapes that define the Cape Epic experience.
